The Cooper Companies Set to Join the S&P 500; Northwestern and NuVasive to Join S&P MidCap 400; SPS Commerce and Fox Factory to Join S&P SmallCap 600

NEW YORK, Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- S&P Dow Jones Indices will make the following changes to the S&P 500, S&P MidCap 400 and S&P SmallCap 600 indices effective after the close of trading on Thursday, September 22:

  • S&P MidCap 400 constituent The Cooper Companies Inc. (NYSE: COO) will replace Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. (NYSE: HOT) in the S&P 500, S&P SmallCap 600 constituent Northwestern Corp. (NYSE: NWE) will replace Cooper Companies in the S&P MidCap 400, and SPS Commerce Inc. (NASD: SPSC) will replace Northwestern in the S&P SmallCap 600. S&P 500 constituent Marriott International Inc. (NASD: MAR) is acquiring Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide in a deal expected to be completed soon pending final conditions.
  • S&P SmallCap 600 constituent NuVasive Inc. (NASD: NUVA) will replace FEI Co. (NASD: FEIC) in the S&P MidCap 400, and Fox Factory Holding Corp. (NASD: FOXF) will replace NuVasive in the S&P SmallCap 600. S&P 500 constituent Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (NYSE: TMO) acquired FEI in a deal completed today.

The Cooper Companies operates as a medical device company. Headquartered in Pleasanton, CA, the company will be added to the S&P 500 GICS (Global Industry Classification Standard) Health Care Supplies Sub-Industry index.

Northwestern provides electricity and natural gas. Headquartered in Sioux Falls, SD, the company will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 GICS Multi-Utilities Sub-Industry index.

SPS Commerce provides cloud-based supply chain management solutions. Headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, the Company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Internet Software & Services Sub-Industry index.

NuVasive develops and markets minimally-disruptive surgical products and procedurally-integrated solutions for spine surgery. Headquartered in San Diego, CA, the Company will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 GICS Health Care Equipment Sub-Industry index.

Fox Factory Holdings designs, engineers, manufactures, and markets ride dynamics products. Headquartered in Scotts Valley, CA, the Company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Auto Parts & Equipment Sub-Industry index.
