Platts RigData: U.S. Rig Count Rose 8% Month-Over-Month in February

HOUSTON, March 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Platts RigData, a forecasting and analytics unit of S&P Global Platts, today announced the U.S. rig count for February 2017 was 834, up 61 (8%) from January 2017, and up 245 (42%) from February 2016. This rig count includes U.S. onshore, U.S. inland waters, and U.S. offshore Gulf of Mexico drilling rigs.

  • February U.S. land rig count: 791, up 58 from the previous month and up 264 from February 2016.
  • February U.S. inland waters and Gulf of Mexico (GOM) rig count: 43, up 3 from the previous month, and down 19 from February 2016.
