Rakesh Kumar, Vice President and Chief Architect of S&P Capital IQ and S&P Dow Jones Indices, presented the winning High Performance Financial Analytics Platform (HPFA) and accepted the award in a recent ceremony in Bangalore, India.  "We are very excited to win this award because there aren't many awards in the industry for software architecture and this is a global award," said Mr. Kumar.  "It recognizes our skills in the area of high performance analytic platforms, where we have had tremendous success in creating new capabilities and solutions for our business products. It was inconceivable to even bring these large analytics computing solutions to life without this platform.  Several of these products came to realization on the HPFA platform, providing high performance computations ensuring very fast delivery of our analytical products.  The forward looking design of the platform enables quicker on-boarding of analytics as we continue to expand our products in this space.

HPFA is an example of the service-oriented-architecture, platform-centric approach adopted by S&P Capital IQ and Dow Jones Indices.  The platform allows for highly computational applications such as simulations to process thousands of transactions simultaneously.  Some examples of applications currently using the HPFA are: pricing systems; on-demand portfolio simulations; portfolio pricing; risk pricing; and sentiment analysis.

"HPFA is a terrific example of what we can do to create a competitive advantage by using existing technologies in creative and pragmatic ways," said Robert Coppola, Chief Technology Officer of S&P Capital IQ.  "When we work as a team to meet and anticipate business needs while staying focused on short-term value and execution, we can provide solutions that provide quality, scalability, and adaptability.  This offers us the capability to improve our speed to market and offers greater flexibility to deliver on future opportunities."
