NEW YORK

NEW YORK, Jan. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Platts, a leading global energy, petrochemicals and metals information provider, has expanded its portfolio of maps with the release of its first-edition North American Crude Oil System Map. This detailed, printed wall map presents in striking color the primary components and latest projects of North America's expansive crude oil system.

In addition to its base geographical features, this map offers an at-a-glance view of the growing oil production activity in the U.S. and Canada and resulting industry and transportation infrastructure, including:

-- Existing and proposed crude oil pipelines
-- Crude oil refineries sized by capacity
    -- Crude oil rail terminals
    -- River barge terminals
    -- Oil ports
    -- Railroads

Utilizing Petroleum Project Tracker data from Bentek Energy*, Platts' oil and natural gas analytics unit, Platts cartographers have pinpointed existing and proposed crude oil pipeline and refinery projects, which are identified by symbol, colored by ownership and labeled with the owner name.

For convenient reference, a data table inset lists the full name, operator name and capacity of crude oil refineries. There are also map insets with details of the following U.S. oil hubs: Mont Belvieu and Corpus Christi, Texas; Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana; Cushing, Oklahoma; and offshore Gulf of Mexico.

The map measures 42" x 66" and is available in both print and digital formats, or as a combination of the two. The glossy version ($560**) is suitable for framing and/or display, and the laminated version ($560**) can be marked upon to facilitate analysis and planning. An enhanced CD-ROM ($595**) encapsulates the wall map's content in a portable format. Click here for full product specifications and purchasing options.

Platts offers more than 50 maps and maps products, in addition to a wide variety of Geographic Information System (GIS) data.

Platts' maps and spatial data have been featured by broadcast and print media outlets including The New York Times, Newsweek, TIME and National Geographic.

* Bentek Energy, an oil and natural gas specialist unit, was acquired by Platts in 2011.

**These prices do not include shipping costs and sales tax.
