Chemical Financial Set to Join S&P MidCap 400; Supervalu, Shoe Carnival and Eagle Pharmaceuticals to Join S&P SmallCap 600

NEW YORK, Aug. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- S&P Dow Jones Indices will make the following changes to the S&P MidCap 400 and S&P SmallCap 600 indices:

  • Chemical Financial Corp. (NASD: CHFC) will replace Supervalu Inc. (NYSE: SVU) in the S&P MidCap 400, and Supervalu will replace Talmer Bancorp Inc. (NASD: TLMR) in the S&P SmallCap 600 after the close of trading on Wednesday, August 31. Chemical Financial is acquiring Talmer in a deal expected to be completed on or about that date pending final approvals. Supervalu has a market capitalization more representative of the small-cap market space.
     
  • Shoe Carnival Inc. (NASD: SCVL) will replace Sagent Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASD: SGNT) in the S&P SmallCap 600 after the close of trading on Friday, August 26. Nichi-Iko Pharmaceutical Co. is acquiring Sagent in a deal expected to be completed soon pending final conditions.
     
  • Eagle Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASD: EGRX) will replace Cash America International Inc. (NYSE: CSH) in the S&P SmallCap 600 after the close of trading on Thursday, September 1. S&P SmallCap 600 constituent First Cash Financial Services Inc. (NASD: FCFS) is acquiring Cash America in a deal expected to be completed on or about that date pending final approvals. Post merger, the combined company will be named FirstCash Inc.

Chemical Financial offers banking and fiduciary products and services. Headquartered in Midland, MI, the Company will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 GICS (Global Industry Classification Standard) Regional Banks Sub-Industry index.

Supervalu operates as a grocery wholesaler and retailer. Headquartered in Eden Prairie, MN, the Company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Food Retail Sub-Industry index.

Shoe Carnival operates as family footwear retailer. Headquartered in Evansville, IN, the company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Apparel Retail Sub-Industry index.

Eagle Pharmaceuticals focuses on developing and commercializing injectable products primarily in the critical care and oncology areas. Headquartered in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, the Company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Biotechnology Sub-Industry index.
